Las Posadas

Mary & Joseph Donkey_edited.jpg

Los Posadas, (Spanish for 'The Inns') is a religious festival celebrated in Mexico and other Spanish speaking areas. It commemorates the journey Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. Unable to find lodging in Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary were forced to seek shelter in a stable, where the Christ Child was born.

Learn how to host Mary, Joseph and their donkey from youth in our parish

At Saint Andrew's, our members take home these statues to 'host' for a night or two.

Share a meal, listen to music, take a picture with the statues,

fill out a page in the traveling journal, or just enjoy their time in private.
