Reflection Day 11: Bill Cunningham

How or what do you feel or think about when you see a Cross? Read 1 Corinthians 12. What are your spiritual gits? What part of the Body are you?

By Bill Cunningham

The crosses hung in the Nave at St. Andrew’s evoke a span of emotions in me. The wooden crucifix on the wall next to the pulpit conveys sheer cruelty. The painting at the back portrays death. The Christus Rex hanging above the altar is of the risen Christ. This artistic expression sets right my mind and heart for the worship service.

1 Corinthians 12 is a favorite of mine that has inspired and propelled me through everything I’ve ever done in life. God has given each one of us a unique gift that is yours to share in some way with this congregation, to play an active role in some way small or larger. My eyes see everyone as equal and honorable no matter our differences or abilities in life, and my ears listen to everyone equally. We are born to share this life together and work together on this earth.
